7:01 pm

I have been a member here for awhile but never post but i have a question for all of you guys...

i am working on an art project in which there is a huge cross in the center of the picture. in the top left corner is a person curled up hugging their knees in the corner (lonelyness), the bottome left will have a person laying down, slightly curled with their head laying on their hands (sadness), on the top right is person sitting their heels hunched over with their arms crossed underneath (burden/pain) and the last corner will have a person mourning the death of someone at a graveyard (death).

Now my question is that i want to have a verse written on the cross that will go along the lines of Christ helps to elinimate loneliness, sadness, burden/pain, and death...or something like that

any ideas?

catholics: brothers/sisters in Christ? or too warped of a doctrine to be considered?

disclaimer!: this isn't intended to hurt any catholics in the community ♥

1:39 pm - yeah, yeah. i know. promo-ing here is frowned upon.

too bad.

this is a community where punks can meet other punks, talk about whatever, and is Christian friendly, although you don't have to be a Christian to join.

and please note: this is a community for punks. no hardcore, emo, indie, poppunk etc please.  [no offense, i love people of all genres- i just want a place that is for punks]

yes, i know we're only two strong as of now, but i need your help to grow.

check out our interests. if you find bands there you like, join on in. if not, this may not be the place for you.

okay, i swear i'm done now.

don't think that because i'm starting my own community i'll be ditching this one. i'll still be around.

8:17 pm - ooo, good debate, Raye. i gotta sound off on this one.

in order to discuss Christianity and anarchy, one has to have background in both. good thing i do.
Matt, my dear brother, i love you but i disagree with you. i feel that anarchy and Christianity go hand in hand. you see, true anarchists know that anarchy isn't about bringing an end, but about a new beginning. i'm not saying that anarchy would ever work in real life- let's face it, shall we... humans suck too much and would ruin it. however, that said and understood- the only way anarchy would work, and the way it was first concieved, is that in a lawless society the only way to avoid mass pandimonium would be if people respected each other enough to not harm another, or another's rights. so, Tony's concept of Godarchy is simply anarchy based on Jesus' teachings. now, most sane human beings would agree that some of the ten commandments are aplicable whether you follow God or not. [ie- don't kill, don't take what isn't yours] therefore, if a society agrees that killing isn't cool, and people shouldn't steal, all they would really need are those ideas in their collective concious. it would bleed over into other areas of their life. say america was no longer a democracy, but governed by entropy [the force ruling over the concept of anarchy]. i decide to drive from my house twenty-five miles to get to bloomington. now, i can drive one hundred twenty miles an hour, the fastest my little red escort can go, and be in bloomington in a matter of minutes. but in doing so, i could be risking other's lives. whoops, concience alert! i can't kill, that's wrong. guess i'll just go sixty miles an hour, and enjoy the drive with some good ol' Devotchkas.

so, c'mon people... let's hear a few more opinions on this topic! Raye, i'd like to hear your view since you've brought this all up.

4:27 pm - <<< not really a punk.... but

Thats right im not much of a punk, but i definetly am a hooligan if that counts for anything........ So im not really down with anarchy...... it doesnt really work so well with christianity, because anarchy is usually associated with nhilism(sp?) and that doesnt go with christianity at all....... i recall one time i was reading tony fuzz'z xanga ( a guy from dXc{its a semi-local punk band that might be broken up but i dont really know}) but he talked about his theory called Godarchy one time and it was the idea that there was anarchy through christ, and that we wouldnt need a goverment if everyone was a true beleiver

ok im done

anyone got all of the lyrics to the Descendants' "We"? i've been busting my butt trying to find them on google, but it's as if no one has ever heard of the Descendants, let alone "We".

11:53 am - wow, it's been a while.

so my last update here was about the Headnoise show at the Nite Light. it was great folks- really intimate, great music, got to spend some time with my buddies from the Riot... all in all a very memorable show for Headnoise's last in Chicago. it's hard for me to believe that they won't be around as a band anymore. they've been a cornerstone staple for me since the first year i went. strange that i won't get to see them as Headnoise next year. i'm happy for them, they've all got families that they want to spend time with and individal projects they want to persue. i'm glad i've got cds, though. not quite the same, but there's nothing like screaming along with Edie to Antibodies on the open road. but, i digress.
i was originally going to tell you all what i've been up to, and to ask for some prayers. my boyfriend Bob and i got engaged about a month and a half ago. we decided to leave our internship at the Nite Light because we needed to save some money for our married life, which God willing will begin on January 14, 2006. so, we've come to live with my parents in Bloomington Normal, Il [ or, rather, just outside of]. we've been looking for jobs, and have had a bit of success through a temp agancy. if you would remember us in your prayers, for courage to face things we're unsure of, for jobs we'll be happy at, for people to fellowship with and people to witness to, for peace of mind about the upcoming trials, we would very much appriciate it. please tell me if there's anything we can pray about for you.
in the meantime, take care and God bless!

Hey I'm new here. I'm a christian, grew up in a christian home, I listen to pretty much every kind of music, go to a free methodist church. I sing in our church's worship band about once and month. I'm going to Thailand on a missions trip in august. Punk (meaning who knows what anymore) is my main sort of listening music. Check my profile, there's band names and crap on there. Glad to be here.

6:06 pm - prayers needed, folks...

we've been under some major attacks from the city lately. our neighbors have been sending cops over simply because there are kids standing in front of our building, they've been complaining about the music, a person who was once interning here has been spreading attrocious lies about our goals, our staff, the safety of the kids who come here, etc.
please pray for wisdom, strength, and perserverence for us all, and pray for sight and discrimination to all those who read this man's lies.
thank you.

1:03 pm - all things new

new coffee bar, new name, new webpage... my goodness!
first things first-
Souled Out is now the Nite Light Cafe, and you can find us on the web at www.thenitelight.org and beware, there are a few scary pictures of myself and my man at cornerstone. just look for short red hair and a pink mohawk.
i must make a very exciting announcement about a few upcoming shows!
friday the 15th brings Flatfoot 56 back to our venue! if you're into punk and within driving distance of Chicago, i suggest you show up friday, and show up EARLY to ensure that you get in. also playing that night: Dublin Brigade, the Remnants, the Riot, and Fight to Die. [7009 W. Ogden, Bewyn. show starts at 6, $6 cover]
August brings HEADNOISE. more updates on that in the future.
any way, i hope to see a few of you on friday.
take care and God bless!
